What happens at an event?Doors open at 6:45 pm, the event begins at 7:00, and finishes around 11:30 pm. In this time you'll have a chance to chat with c. 20 other singles, but only for 3 minutes each! At the start of the evening, you'll be given a clipboard and "matchcard" on which to indicate whom you want to meet again. The women will take their seats on one side of the tables, the men will sit opposite, and then the speed-dating can begin... At the end of each 3-minute conversation, the host will indicate that it's time to fill out your matchcards. At this point you should confidentially mark a "yes" or a "no" on the card to indicate whether you'd like to meet that person again. Then everyone moves along one table, so that everyone gets to chat with a new person. You will meet 10 different singles and then have a break for half an hour before meeting another 10. At the end of the evening, we will collect your matchcards and process the results. For those meetings where both of you said "yes", we'll send you each other's email addresses within a couple of days. Then it's up to you to get in touch... In return for organising this event, we'd like to collect some information about you to help us with our research. During the evening, we will ask you to fill out a simple questionnaire, take a photo (similar to a passport photo, in a portable booth) and get you to provide a saliva sample (just spit into a tube!) so that we can measure hormone levels. All data will be treated with the strictest confidentiality. From midnight, Lyche’s doors will be thrown open to the public. If after receiving your free cinema ticket or free drink you’re thirsty for more, you’re welcome to buy drinks at the bar – which will stay open until 1 am. Invite your friends to meet and mingle after the event! More about speed-datingSpeed-dating began in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, in 1998. The first speed-dating events were organised as a novel way of helping Jewish singles meet each other. Since then, the concept has become a worldwide phenomenon, with thousands of people taking part every week to meet other single people. Read more... |
